Jefferies: Used business jet inventories drop 45% year-over-year in August
Investing.com -- Used business jet inventories for aircraft less than seven years out of production fell 45% year-over-year in August 2026, according to data from Jefferies.
The total number of used business jets available for sale reached 1,009 units in August 2026, down 16% from the same month last year and 1% from July 2026. The figure compared to 1,016 units in July 2026 and 1,206 units in August 2025.
For newer jets less than seven years out of production, inventory levels remained flat month-over-month at 2.0% of the fleet. Heavy jets led the overall decline with a 34% year-over-year decrease, followed by midsize jets at 12% and light jets at 9%.
The tighter inventory conditions supported pricing, which rose 3% year-over-year while remaining flat month-over-month.
By manufacturer, Gulfstream inventories dropped 66% year-over-year to 22 units, representing 1.1% of the fleet compared to 3.5% a year earlier. The decline was driven by the G650 model, which had 5 units available compared to 30 units in August 2025.
Embraer units for sale fell 42% year-over-year to 22 units, representing 2.8% of the active fleet. Cessna had 45 units available, down 42% year-over-year, accounting for 2.0% of the active fleet.
Bombardier units for sale decreased 33% year-over-year to 42 units, or 2.2% of the fleet. Dassault inventory levels fell 30% year-over-year to 19 units, representing 3.5% of the active fleet.
Average list prices varied by manufacturer. Cessna prices rose 19% year-over-year and 1% month-over-month. Bombardier pricing increased 4% year-over-year to $21.3 million. Embraer pricing rose 1% year-over-year to $12.9 million. Gulfstream pricing fell 3% year-over-year to $32.7 million while remaining flat month-over-month. Dassault pricing declined 4.0% year-over-year.
