Jazz Pharmaceuticals plc (NASDAQ: JAZZ) announced the appointment of Ted W. Love, M.D., to its board of directors, effective December 1, 2025.

Love served as president and CEO of Global Blood Therapeutics from 2014 until Pfizer acquired the company in 2023. He led the company from startup to a global commercial business with a pipeline of therapies. His previous roles included executive vice president of research and development at Onyx Pharmaceuticals and president and CEO of Nuvelo. Love began his biotechnology career at Genentech in various management positions.

The physician holds a medical degree from Yale Medical School and completed his residency in internal medicine and cardiology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Love currently serves on the boards of Gilead Sciences, Royalty Pharma plc, and Structure Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: GPCR). He previously chaired the BIO Board of Directors.

"His proven success in the biopharmaceutical industry and track record driving scientific innovation, commercial success and shareholder value will complement the capabilities of our existing Board," said Renee Gala, Jazz's president and CEO, according to the company's statement.

Love's appointment coincides with Kenneth O'Keefe's retirement from the Jazz board, also effective December 1, 2025. O'Keefe has served on the board since 2004 and chaired the audit committee from 2012 to 2014. He co-founded healthcare private equity firm BPOC, LLC, where he served as managing director and CEO.

The appointment represents part of Jazz's board renewal efforts, with six directors appointed in the past five years. Jazz Pharmaceuticals is a Dublin-based biopharmaceutical company focused on sleep disorders, epilepsy treatments, and cancer therapies.
