Instacart to integrate grocery shopping into Meta's Muse AI

Instacart announced it will connect its grocery shopping infrastructure to Muse, a new artificial intelligence product from Meta, expanding the company's presence across AI platforms.

According to a company statement, Muse will join a list of AI platforms that already offer access to Instacart's grocery services, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Google Search's AI Mode. Instacart describes these integrations as "connectors," which allow users of third-party AI products to browse and order groceries through Instacart without leaving those platforms.

Instacart said its grocery infrastructure draws on more than 10 million daily inventory signals across nearly 100,000 stores, a product catalog of over 2 billion product instances, and 1.6 billion lifetime orders across more than 2,200 retail banners.

The company operates three tiers of grocery AI experiences. Clementine is its native shopping assistant on the Instacart Marketplace. Cart Assistant is a white-label version offered to retail partners for use on their own websites and apps. The connector program extends grocery ordering capabilities into external AI platforms such as Muse.

Instacart claimed it is the top AI-recommended brand for grocery delivery across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Meta AI, and Perplexity, though the basis for that ranking was not independently verified in the statement.

No financial terms related to the Muse integration were disclosed. A launch date for the Muse connector was not specified beyond "soon."
