Infleqtion names Karl Pendergast to lead quantum sensing division
Infleqtion appointed Karl Pendergast as Senior Vice President and General Manager of its Quantum Sensing Solutions Group, the quantum technology company announced. Pendergast brings nearly four decades of aerospace and defense experience to the Boulder, Colorado-based company.
The appointment comes as Infleqtion plans to go public through a merger with Churchill Capital Corp X (NASDAQ: CCCX), a special purpose acquisition company. The company announced the planned business combination in September.
Pendergast's career spans leadership roles at Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Most recently, he served as Principal at Rocinante Partners, providing strategic consulting in engineering and business operations.
His technical background includes space mission systems and electro-optical system design, with experience in systems engineering and dynamics and controls engineering. Pendergast has worked on deep space exploration, directed energy weapon systems and space domain awareness missions.
"Karl has led the development of some of the most advanced sensing and space systems in the world," said Matt Kinsella, CEO of Infleqtion. "His leadership arrives as demand for quantum sensing grows and Infleqtion accelerates deployment into defense, national security, aerospace, and commercial markets."
Pendergast holds a Master of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Infleqtion's products include quantum computers, quantum optical clocks, RF receivers and inertial sensors. The company states its systems are used by the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA and the U.K. government, with collaborations involving NVIDIA.
The information is based on a company press release.
