Independent Bank Corporation (NASDAQ: IBCP) announced the completion of its acquisition of HCB Financial Corp. (OTCPK: HCBN), the parent company of Highpoint Community Bank, on July 1, 2026.
Highpoint Community Bank, headquartered in Hastings, Michigan, held approximately $597 million in total assets, $532 million in deposits, and $354 million in loans across seven branch locations. Independent Bank Corporation, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, holds approximately $5.6 billion in total assets.
HCB Financial Corp. has merged with and into Independent Bank Corporation. Existing Highpoint Community Bank customers will experience no immediate changes to their banking services, including branches, checks, bank cards, and online and mobile banking.
Independent Bank expects to complete full system integration of Highpoint Community Bank's operations on November 9, 2026.
Brad Kessel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Independent Bank Corporation, stated that Mark Kolanowski will join Independent Bank as Executive Vice President and Senior Advisor, reporting directly to Kessel, and Chelsey Foster will serve as Regional President - Commercial Lending.
Independent Bank Corporation operates 59 locations across Michigan's Lower Peninsula and was founded in 1864.
