Google Cloud launches Gemini Enterprise for Legal in preview
Google Cloud announced the preview launch of Gemini Enterprise for Legal, an AI solution designed for legal industry workflows, with initial customers including law firms Cleary, Freshfields, Weil, and Williams & Connolly.
According to a press release statement, the product is built on Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise platform and includes purpose-built skills for legal tasks, connectors to legal platforms, and a partner ecosystem of third-party agents. The solution targets workflows such as contract review, regulatory monitoring, legal brief drafting, citation verification, and data subject access request fulfillment.
Gemini Enterprise for Legal and Financial Services are described as the first in a planned series of industry-specific solutions built on the Gemini Enterprise platform.
The solution includes integrations with platforms such as Docusign, Everlaw, iManage, NetDocuments, RelativityOne, Thomson Reuters, and Harvey, among others. Consulting partners include Accenture, Deloitte, and KPMG.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said the product is intended to help legal teams manage complex workflows while providing "grounding and governance capabilities that allow teams to confidently focus on strategic counsel."
The company states that client data, prompts, and outputs remain within the organization's private cloud environment, and that base models are not trained on customer data. Existing permissions are inherited through direct system connectors.
Freshfields Global Managing Partner Alan Mason cited a "strategic, multi-year partnership with Google Cloud" as part of the firm's adoption of the platform.
