GE Aerospace (NYSE: GE) received a contract from the Defense Logistics Agency to support the J85 engine that powers the Air Force's T-38 training aircraft. The company will provide fleet management and supply optimization services under the agreement.
The initial seven-month contract includes a four-year, five-month option period. GE Aerospace will use its TrueChoice Defense platform, which employs artificial intelligence and data analytics to predict parts needs and identify supply chain constraints across the U.S. Air Force, Defense Logistics Agency and GE Aerospace operations.
"This contract directly supports increased readiness for the J85 engine and the U.S. Air Force's primary training fleet," said Asha Belarski, general manager of customer support and sustainment for Defense & Systems at GE Aerospace.
The contract follows a test program that integrated data from organizations managing more than 6,000 individual J85 engine parts. GE Aerospace is partnering with Palantir to combine aerospace engineering expertise with data integration and artificial intelligence capabilities.
The platform consolidates data to enable faster decision-making and more efficient engine sustainment by predicting when parts will be needed and providing users with comprehensive operational views.
