Eaton (NYSE: ETN) announced a collaboration with Autodesk (NASDAQ: ADSK) to develop digital energy management solutions for commercial buildings and data centers. The partnership combines Eaton's energy management systems with Autodesk Tandem technology to create what the companies call a "digital energy twin" capability.
The collaboration introduces Eaton's Brightlayer Digital Energy Twin, which uses data from Eaton's Brightlayer energy software to simulate and monitor building energy performance. The technology allows facility managers to model how buildings will operate under different conditions and analyze potential infrastructure upgrades before implementation.
The partnership also includes a new building information modeling application for Autodesk Revit that generates BIM files for electrical systems. This tool is designed to streamline pre-construction planning for design and engineering professionals.
"Eaton and Autodesk are introducing new dynamic capabilities for the building and data center industries that will fundamentally change how electrical systems are designed, built and operated," said Justin Carron, director of buildings and campuses at Eaton.
Robert Bray, vice president and general manager of Autodesk Tandem, stated the collaboration aims to help building operators "move from reactive to predictive strategies."
Eaton will present the digital energy twin technology at Autodesk University, where the company's national application engineer manager will discuss operational applications of the technology.
Eaton reported revenues of nearly $25 billion in 2024 and serves customers in more than 160 countries. The company focuses on power management solutions across multiple sectors including data centers, utilities, and commercial buildings.
