EVgo Inc. (NASDAQ: EVGO) has opened a new flagship electric vehicle charging station in Warren, Michigan, located at a Meijer retail store directly across from General Motors' (NYSE: GM) Global Technical Center.
The station features 12 CCS and NACS stalls, an overhead canopy with pull-through access for vehicles towing trailers, and 350 kW chargers capable of delivering a full charge in as little as 15 minutes, depending on the vehicle.
With the Warren location now open, EVgo reports more than 40 flagship charging stalls are operational nationwide. The company expects to surpass 100 flagship stalls by the end of 2026. Flagship sites are planned for California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, and Texas, averaging up to 20 stalls per location.
GM has contributed to the expansion. Separately, EVgo has built nearly 2,400 stalls across 32 states with GM's support. EVgo, GM, and Pilot Company also reported their collaborative fast charging network has surpassed 1,300 stalls at 300 locations across 40 states.
"Through our collaboration with GM, we are meeting EV drivers where they are and seamlessly integrating infrastructure options into drivers' lives," said Dennis Kish, President of EVgo.
William Hotchkiss, head of public charging at General Motors, said the flagship program reflects collaboration between automakers, charging networks, and retailers, adding that expanded access to charging is intended to make purchasing or leasing one of GM's twelve EV models easier.
According to data from Experian, the number of EVs in operation in Michigan increased sixfold between 2021 and 2025.
