DataMeds outlines peptide compounding plans after FDA policy proposal

DataMeds AI, Inc. (NASDAQ: MEDS) said its pharmacy subsidiary Corexa Health has outlined a plan to enter the peptide compounding market following a U.S. Food and Drug Administration proposal titled "Interim Access Policy for Compounding Using Certain Peptides," according to a company press release.

The FDA's proposal follows a recommendation made less than three months ago by its Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) to loosen restrictions on six peptides. The U.S. compounding pharmacy market is projected to grow from $18 billion in 2025 to over $34 billion annually by 2035, according to Precedence Research.

Corexa Health operates three divisions that the company says will address the peptide market. Corexa Pharmacy, a 503A compounding pharmacy, intends to fill peptide prescriptions once the FDA's interim policy takes effect. The company said it has begun reviewing potential drug substance suppliers and plans to finalize contracts within weeks.

Corexa Distribution, licensed in all 50 states, plans to supply independent pharmacies with peptide drug substances. The division operates a 40,000-square-foot warehouse in Lakeland, Florida, and will also offer third-party logistics services to peptide manufacturers.

The third division, Corexa Tech & Hub, routes prescriptions from physicians to Corexa Pharmacy or a patient-selected local pharmacy. It also offers an Electronic Benefits Verification service to track insurance coverage changes for peptides.

Gerald Commissiong, Interim Co-CEO of DataMeds, said the company intends to initially market peptide offerings to patients who have historically obtained peptides through what he described as the grey market.

DataMeds said it recently licensed technology for patients on FDA-approved GLP-1 receptor agonist drugs from a company called REBOOT, and is building related programs through its Health Lives Here mobile application.

The company is headquartered in Tampa, Florida, and also operates Helomics Corporation, a CLIA-certified laboratory in Pittsburgh offering the ChemoFx Assay.
