DataMeds AI cuts staff, refocuses on ChemoFx cancer diagnostic test

October 13, 2026 6:03 AM EDT

DataMeds AI, Inc. (NASDAQ: MEDS) announced cost-cutting measures, including reductions in corporate management positions, as the company shifts its workforce spending toward commercializing the ChemoFx diagnostic lab test for gynecologic cancers.

The announcement follows DataMeds AI's September 11, 2026, acquisition of Helomics Corporation, which included Helomics' Predictive Oncology Cancer Biomarker Super Intelligence division. Helomics operates a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

ChemoFx tests a patient's live tumor cells against a panel of chemotherapy agents to help oncologists inform treatment decisions. The test has been commercially available in the United States since 1997 and carries two dedicated CPT codes (81535/81536). The company said peak historical annual revenues previously exceeded $25 million under prior ownership. ChemoFx has recently been included in a Humana Medicaid coverage policy for gynecologic cancers.

Gerald E. Commissiong, Interim Co-CEO of DataMeds AI, said the company is preparing to relaunch a marketing campaign for ChemoFx and is also preparing additional clinical utility data analyses for peer review in other solid tumors beyond ovarian cancer.

The company said it controls a repository of over 70,000 de-identified tumor samples linked to clinical data across more than 130 tumor types, including approximately 20,000 ovarian cancer samples. DataMeds AI said it has begun discussions with hospital systems, health maintenance organizations, group purchasing organizations, and specialty cancer treatment centers about adding ChemoFx to their cancer testing programs.

The company also plans to develop an oncology support module within its Health Lives Here mobile application, currently available on Android and iOS devices. The app is designed to consolidate electronic health records and wearables data into a health dashboard.

DataMeds AI's nutraceutical partner Tollo Health, LLC, led by Commissiong, intends to build nutritional support programs for cancer patients in consultation with oncologists. Tollo Health is a separate company also led by the Interim Co-CEO.

ChemoFx is a laboratory-developed test and has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
