DataFirst and Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas announced a partnership to deliver interoperability and DICOM routing solutions for healthcare organizations. The collaboration combines DataFirst's Silverback Workflow Engine with Konica Minolta's Exa PACS|RIS and Exa Teleradiology platforms.

The partnership addresses challenges healthcare organizations face when sharing patient imaging data across different systems within enterprise networks. Hospital consolidation and radiology practice mergers have increased the need for advanced routing solutions that can handle complex data sharing requirements.

Two products result from the collaboration: Exa Gateway, Powered by Silverback, provides configurable routing solutions for image distribution and automated study workflow. The system includes a study cache for expedited resends and a web-based interface for configuration and monitoring. Exa DICOM Engine, Powered by Silverback, offers comprehensive interoperability services with intelligent prefetch capabilities and rules-based processing for message handling.

"At DataFirst, we believe the best outcomes happen when great technology is paired with great partnerships," said Beau Jones, president and CEO of DataFirst. The company provides DICOM routing, healthcare data migration, and workflow orchestration solutions.

Kevin Stinson, vice president of sales at Konica Minolta HCIT, noted the companies have partnered for several years on enterprise-grade data migration tools. "As we expand the Exa Platform and interoperability capabilities across healthcare enterprises, there was only one choice to partner with—DataFirst," Stinson said.

DataFirst, founded in 1990, has completed imaging study migrations across more than 100 health systems. Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas, headquartered in Wayne, New Jersey, specializes in medical diagnostic imaging and healthcare information technology as a division of Konica Minolta.
