Brown-Forman names Jim Peters as CFO effective March 2026
Brown-Forman Corporation (NYSE: BFA, BFB) announced the appointment of Jim Peters as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective March 31, 2026. Peters will report to President and CEO Lawson Whiting.
Peters joins Brown-Forman from Whirlpool Corporation, where he most recently served as Executive Vice President leading enterprise transformation initiatives. He succeeds Leanne Cunningham, who will retire effective May 1, 2026.
At Whirlpool, Peters previously held the position of Executive Vice President, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, with responsibilities extending beyond finance to include legal, IT, and corporate strategy. He originally assumed the CFO role at Whirlpool in 2016.
"Jim is a seasoned financial leader who brings a proven track record of driving operational discipline and resilience through complex global cycles," said Whiting in a statement.
Peters' career at Whirlpool included roles as Vice President, Corporate Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer beginning in 2015. He also served as CFO of Whirlpool's North American region, managing a finance organization of more than 300 people, and as Vice President and CFO of the company's EMEA region starting in 2008. Before joining Whirlpool in 2004, Peters held management positions at Limited Brands and Ernst & Young.
Peters holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Business Administration from the University of Kansas and an MBA from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
Brown-Forman is a spirits company headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, with a portfolio that includes Jack Daniel's, Woodford Reserve, and Old Forester brands.
