Brown-Forman and Pernod Ricard end merger talks

Brown-Forman Corporation (NYSE: BFA, BFB) and Pernod Ricard have terminated discussions regarding a potential business combination after failing to reach mutually agreeable terms, according to a company statement.
The Louisville-based spirits company announced the end of talks that were first publicly confirmed on March 26. At that time, both companies noted there was no assurance that any agreement would be reached.
Brown-Forman stated it will focus on creating value for stakeholders through its existing strategic and operational priorities. The company plans to expand its geographic footprint, build consumer brands, and enhance operational efficiency.
Brown-Forman is a global spirits company that has operated for more than 155 years. Its portfolio includes the Jack Daniel's Family of Brands, Woodford Reserve, Old Forester, and other premium spirits brands. The company employs approximately 5,000 people worldwide and distributes products in more than 170 countries.
