Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO) and Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ: META) announced an extended multi-year partnership to support Meta's artificial intelligence compute infrastructure through 2029, according to a company statement.

The partnership centers on Broadcom's technology supporting Meta's Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA) chips. The initial commitment exceeds 1 gigawatt and represents the first phase of a multi-gigawatt rollout planned over the next three years.

Broadcom will provide technology through its XPU platform to support Meta's custom silicon development across multiple generations. The deployment includes Broadcom's Ethernet networking solutions, high-radix switches, and connectivity products to handle AI workload requirements.

"We are pleased to expand our strategic collaboration with Meta as they pioneer the next frontier of artificial intelligence," said Hock Tan, Broadcom's president and CEO.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated the partnership will support the company's goal to "deliver personal superintelligence to billions of people" through applications including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Threads.

The collaboration focuses on chip design, packaging, and networking infrastructure to support Meta's AI data centers. Broadcom's technology will enable scale-up, scale-out, and scale-across networking capabilities for Meta's compute clusters.

As part of the expanded partnership, Hock Tan will transition from Meta's Board of Directors to an advisor role, where he will provide guidance on Meta's custom silicon roadmap and infrastructure investments.

The partnership builds on existing collaboration between the companies and represents Broadcom's involvement in Meta's broader silicon strategy, which deploys different accelerators for various AI workloads.
