BriaPro files patent for cancer immunotherapy platform

July 29, 2025 7:30 AM EDT

BriaPro Therapeutics Corp., a majority-owned subsidiary of BriaCell Therapeutics Corp. (NASDAQ: BCTX) (TSX: BCT), filed a provisional patent application for its TILsRx immunotherapy platform designed to treat cancer.

The TILsRx platform uses multivalent agents that simultaneously target multiple tumor-associated and immune pathway targets. The technology aims to address immune suppression and T cell exhaustion in tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes while enhancing T cell activation in the tumor microenvironment.

The platform incorporates several components including soluble CD80, which functions as both an immune checkpoint inhibitor and immunostimulator, anti-CD3 for T cell activation, IL-21 for enhancing cytotoxic T cell function, and anti-STEAP1 targeting a cancer antigen expressed in prostate cancer. An early target candidate is B7-H3, a tumor antigen overexpressed in prostate, lung, breast, pancreatic, and ovarian cancers.

"We have developed novel multivalent anti-cancer agents which we expect to be both highly selective and highly effective, maximizing on-target efficacy while minimizing off-target toxicity," stated Miguel Lopez-Lago, chief scientific officer of BriaCell and BriaPro.

The TILsRx agents combine shared core components with elements targeting specific cell surface antigens, allowing for manufacturing efficiency and flexibility to incorporate future immunotherapy targets. BriaPro plans to advance the technology through preclinical and clinical development stages.

BriaCell is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing immunotherapies for cancer treatment. BriaPro is a preclinical-stage immunotherapy company focused on developing binding agents and proteins to enhance the body's cancer-fighting capabilities.
