Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc. (NYSE: BIO and BIO.B) launched four new Droplet Digital PCR platforms, according to a company statement issued Tuesday. The instruments include Bio-Rad's QX Continuum ddPCR system and the QX700 series of ddPCR platforms acquired through the company's recent acquisition of digital PCR developer Stilla Technologies.
The expanded product portfolio includes over 400,000 assays and combines with Bio-Rad's existing QX200 and QX600 ddPCR systems. The company states the platforms offer absolute quantification, precision, and multiplexing capabilities for life science research and diagnostic applications.
The QX Continuum ddPCR system targets translational research applications and features four-color multiplexing with up to eight discrete thermal profiles per plate. The QX700 series consists of three ddPCR instruments designed for academic research, environmental testing, cell and gene therapy, and biopharma quality control workflows.
The QX700 series enables seven-color multiplexing and can process over 700 samples per day with minimal input volume and continuous loading capability, according to the company.
"The newly introduced platforms complement Bio-Rad's existing QX ddPCR portfolio and offer our customers unparalleled workflow simplicity and throughput capabilities across the full spectrum of digital PCR applications including oncology, infectious disease, and genetic research," said Jim Barry, executive vice president and president of Bio-Rad's Life Science Group.
Bio-Rad operates globally with approximately 7,700 employees and reported $2.6 billion in revenues in 2024. The company serves universities, research institutions, hospitals, and biopharmaceutical companies, as well as clinical, food safety and environmental quality laboratories.
