Bavarian Nordic wins DKK 700 million smallpox/mpox vaccine contract

Bavarian Nordic A/S (OMX: BAVA) announced it received a government contract valued over DKK 700 million to supply its MVA-BN smallpox/mpox vaccine to an undisclosed country in 2026 and 2027.

The Danish vaccine company said deliveries under the contract will begin in 2026, with the majority of revenue recognized in 2027. The contract increases Bavarian Nordic's secured Public Preparedness business contracts for 2026 to approximately DKK 2.2 billion, up DKK 200 million from previously announced levels.

The company maintained its 2026 revenue guidance for Public Preparedness at DKK 2.3 billion to DKK 2.5 billion. Overall guidance for 2026 remains unchanged at revenue of DKK 5.5 billion to DKK 5.7 billion and an EBITDA margin of approximately 28%.

MVA-BN is the only non-replicating mpox vaccine approved in the United States, Switzerland, Singapore, Mexico, Canada, the European Union, European Economic Area and United Kingdom. The vaccine is marketed under different brand names across these jurisdictions, including JYNNEOS in the U.S., IMVAMUNE in Canada, and IMVANEX in the EU and UK.

The vaccine was originally developed as a smallpox vaccine in collaboration with the U.S. government to provide protection for the entire population, including immunocompromised individuals who cannot receive traditional replicating smallpox vaccines.
