BAE Systems delivers first BvS10 vehicles to three nations

BAE Systems (LON: BA) delivered the first three BvS10 armored personnel carriers to Sweden, Germany, and the United Kingdom during a ceremonial event at its Hägglunds facility in Sweden on September 17.

The vehicles represent the initial deliveries under a joint procurement framework agreement for 663 BvS10 Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicles. Under separate purchase order agreements, Sweden will receive 236 vehicles, the United Kingdom 60, and Germany 140 by 2028.

Germany has contracted an additional 227 vehicles under the same framework, bringing the total procurement to 663 vehicles across the participating nations.

"The extreme mobility capabilities offered by the BvS10, and the multiple uses that it enables, provides the user nations with a reliable, high tech and modern capability that is instantly ready for missions in the harshest environments," said Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, managing director of BAE Systems Hägglunds.

The BvS10 features an articulated mobility system designed to traverse snow, ice, rock, sand, mud, and swamps, as well as steep mountain terrain. The amphibious vehicle can operate in flooded areas and coastal waters. Its modular design allows configuration for personnel transport, logistics, medical evacuation, recovery, and command and control missions.

The vehicles are based on NATO standards and include variants for troop transport, logistics, medical evacuation, recovery, and command and control operations. Austria, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the United Kingdom currently operate BvS10 vehicles.

The framework agreement establishes a procurement model that allows additional nations to join and acquire vehicles under the same contractual arrangement.
