Archer Aviation Inc. (NYSE: ACHR) announced at CES 2026 its collaboration with NVIDIA to develop artificial intelligence technologies for aviation using the NVIDIA IGX Thor platform, according to a company press release.
The partnership focuses on integrating NVIDIA IGX Thor, described as the company's safety-capable AI computing module, into future iterations of Archer's aircraft programs. The collaboration has been underway since early 2025.
Archer plans to debut the NVIDIA integration at Hawthorne Municipal Airport in Los Angeles, which the company recently acquired. The airport is expected to serve as an operational hub for Archer's planned air taxi network and a testing facility for AI-powered aviation technologies.
The companies identified three areas for AI development: enhancing pilot safety through real-time environmental sensing and flight-path data processing, developing airspace integration systems for improved routing and traffic-aware flight planning, and creating computing architecture for future autonomous operations.
"NVIDIA's AI compute capabilities and software stack give us the foundation to accelerate toward safer, smarter aircraft systems and modernize how aviation interfaces with the world's airspace," said Adam Goldstein, Archer's founder and CEO.
Initial integration of NVIDIA IGX Thor into Archer's development pipeline is underway, with planned applications extending to manufacturing, fleet operations and pilot training. The collaboration builds on Archer's existing AI-focused partnerships.
The NVIDIA IGX Thor platform is designed for high-reliability, real-time onboard computing in safety-critical environments, supporting perception, decision-making and predictive operations.
