Ansys, part of Synopsys (NASDAQ: SNPS), signed an agreement with NVIDIA to license and embed Omniverse technology into Ansys simulation solutions. The partnership will begin with computational fluid dynamics and autonomous vehicle solutions.
The integration uses Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD) to connect Ansys software with NVIDIA Omniverse technologies. This allows engineers to access Omniverse capabilities directly from Ansys interfaces without switching between different platforms.
The collaboration focuses on computer-aided engineering tools that require interoperability between different software systems. Engineers will be able to visualize fluid dynamics simulations in digital environments and develop autonomous systems with automated scenario generation.
PyAnsys, a collection of Python packages, enables users to customize simulations within applications built on NVIDIA Omniverse. An example project called PyAnsys-Heart creates a digital twin of the human heart with a speech-to-text interface.
"Product development processes are only getting more complex, so modern teams need a virtual environment that allows them to simulate, visualize, iterate, and collaborate," said Walt Hearn, senior vice president of worldwide sales and customer excellence at Synopsys.
Rev Lebaredian, vice president of Omniverse and simulation at NVIDIA, stated that combining Ansys solvers with NVIDIA simulation technologies addresses the need for precise physical AI models and accurate digital twins in modern engineering.
Ansys will distribute and support the integrated Omniverse technology through its network of direct sellers and channel partners globally. The agreement covers applications in aerodynamics, autonomous vehicle safety, and 6G connectivity development.
