AmpliTech achieves 100% handover validation in open RAN test

AmpliTech Group (NASDAQ: AMPG) reported that its Radio Units achieved a 100% successful handover validation rate during the O-RAN Global PlugFest Fall 2025 event, according to a company statement.

The testing took place at the POWDER Open Test and Integration Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, with participation from AT&T, DISH Wireless, Samsung, VMware and other telecommunications companies. The validation involved testing AmpliTech's outdoor-rated Band n48 CBRS Radio Units across multiple vendor environments.

Handovers represent the process by which mobile devices switch connections between cell towers without dropping calls. The 100% validation rate indicates that all tested handover attempts succeeded during the multi-vendor testing environment.

"Reliable handover starts at the radio layer," said Fawad Maqbool, CEO of AmpliTech Group. "Achieving a 100% handover success rate across multiple vendors demonstrates that our radios provide the stable RF performance required for carrier-grade Open RAN deployments where mission-critical reliability is the only acceptable standard."

The testing utilized AmpliTech's Band n48 CBRS Radio Units featuring 4×4 MIMO architecture. The units were validated against multiple independent O-CU and O-DU software implementations from various vendors.

POWDER, which stands for Platform for Open Wireless Data-driven Experimental Research, was designated as an Open Test and Integration Center by the O-RAN ALLIANCE in 2023. The facility is part of the PAWR program created by the U.S. National Science Foundation and is located primarily on the University of Utah campus.

AmpliTech Group specializes in Open RAN Radio Units and wireless infrastructure components for 5G networks. The company is based in Hauppauge, New York.
