Agility Robotics unveiled its Digit 5 humanoid robot on Sept. 15, 2026, positioning the machine as capable of operating alongside workers without the physical safety barriers typically required in industrial automation settings.
The Salem, Oregon-based company said Digit 5 includes a new safety architecture with human detection, visual and auditory safety cues, and an independent safety controller. Agility also announced it is the first launch partner for Nvidia's Halos for Robotics platform, pairing Digit 5 with Nvidia IGX Thor and Halos Core infrastructure.
Key hardware changes from its predecessor, Digit 4, include a 40% increase in payload capacity to 50 lb. (22.7 kg), a 90-minute runtime battery that charges in nine minutes — improving the run-to-charge ratio from 2:1 to 10:1 — swappable end-effectors with ISO-standard mounting flanges, and a reach height of 7.2 feet, up from 5.5 feet. The robot weighs 284 lb. and stands 5 feet 11 inches tall.
Agility said Digit 4 has logged more than 65,000 hours of operational time across customer sites including GXO, Schaeffler, Amazon, and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada. At GXO's Flowery Branch, Georgia facility, Digit 4 reached a cumulative 100,000-tote milestone at approximately 98% accuracy while on-task.
As of May 2026, Agility reported more than $300 million in multi-year customer orders for Digit 5, subject to satisfaction of certain contractual milestones, with a pipeline spanning manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics customers.
Agility said it plans to expand Digit 5 availability beyond North America for the first time, targeting the European Union and United Kingdom. Early access is expected in the first half of 2027, with general availability anticipated by the end of 2027.
The robot is assembled at Agility's RoboFab facility in Salem, Oregon, which the company says is designed to produce up to 10,000 units per year at full capacity. Agility also opened a hardware and physical AI development hub in Fremont, California in July 2026.
Agility Robotics is in a proposed business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI (Nasdaq: CCXI), a blank check company.
