Aclarion Inc. (NASDAQ: ACON, ACONW) appointed Dan Isherwood as UK Commercial Director to drive adoption of its Nociscan technology for chronic low back pain diagnosis. The healthcare technology company said this represents its first commercial sales hire.

Isherwood brings experience from roles at medical device companies including J&J MedTech, EOS Imaging, and NuVasive. He previously worked as a healthcare provider at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The UK has become the first market where Nociscan receives insurance coverage, with three of the four largest private insurers now reimbursing the service. This coverage extends to more than 5.2 million covered lives, according to the company.

Nociscan uses magnetic resonance spectroscopy data and artificial intelligence algorithms to help physicians identify painful discs in the lumbar spine. The platform processes MRI data through cloud-based proprietary signal processing techniques to quantify chemical biomarkers associated with disc pain.

"The UK represents the first market where physicians can order Nociscan for their patients without navigating the friction around who is going to pay for the scan," said Brent Ness, CEO of Aclarion.

The company has established a partnership with The London Clinic and reports early growth in the UK market. Isherwood will execute the company's UK commercial expansion strategy and strengthen relationships with physicians and imaging centers.

An estimated 266 million people globally live with chronic low back pain, according to the company's statement based on the press release.
