AT&T (NYSE: T) and Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) have entered into a multi-year agreement valued at more than $3 billion, under which Corning will supply fiber and cable to support AT&T's network expansion across the United States.
According to a press release from AT&T, the deal is intended to help the company reach its stated goal of providing fast internet service to 60 million Americans by the end of 2030. AT&T said the financial impact of the agreement is already reflected in its second-quarter 2026 earnings guidance, which the company reiterated alongside the announcement.
AT&T reported that the average AT&T Fiber household now consumes more than 1 terabyte of data per month, compared to roughly one-fifth of that amount in 2016. The company projects monthly household data use will reach between 2 and 2.5 terabytes by 2030.
Corning will draw on its U.S. manufacturing operations, including facilities in North Carolina, to fulfill the agreement. AT&T said its own technician workforce, which it describes as the largest union-represented workforce in the industry, will deploy and maintain the resulting network infrastructure.
"We deeply value our long and successful relationship with Corning and look forward to continuing our work together as we expand the nation's largest fiber network," said John Stankey, Chairman and CEO of AT&T.
Corning Chairman, CEO, and President Wendell Weeks said the agreement would support domestic supply chains and skilled manufacturing jobs. "By pairing our large, U.S.-based advanced manufacturing with AT&T's network leadership, we can keep co-innovating to build the dense fiber networks that will drive the future of connectivity," he said.
AT&T noted it has committed more than $250 billion over five years to U.S. connectivity infrastructure. Corning, which is marking its 175th anniversary, has been expanding its U.S. fiber and cable manufacturing capacity.
