AMTD companies plan crypto investments from $240 million fund
Three related companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange announced plans to incorporate cryptocurrencies into their combined liquid fund portfolio worth approximately $240 million as of June 30, 2025.
AMTD IDEA Group (NYSE: AMTD), AMTD Digital Inc. (NYSE: HKD), and The Generation Essentials Group (NYSE: TGE) said they would prioritize Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether for their cryptocurrency portfolio. The $240 million represents cash at bank and other unencumbered, unpledged liquid investments across the three companies.
TGE, a subsidiary of AMTD Digital, will focus specifically on cryptocurrency-related opportunities and developments. The company operates in media, entertainment and hospitality sectors and said it sees opportunities for cryptocurrency adoption in leisure, entertainment and consumer spending areas.
According to the press release statement, TGE is evaluating options in the tokenized crypto assets segment. The company's name was designed to reference both "The Generation Essentials" and "Token Generation Event."
AMTD IDEA Group is dual-listed on NYSE and Singapore Exchange and operates as a digital solutions platform connecting companies and investors with global markets. AMTD Digital, headquartered in France, provides digital media, content and marketing services, along with investments and hospitality services.
TGE, also based in France, includes L'Officiel magazine, The Art Newspaper, and various entertainment projects in its portfolio. The company focuses on multimedia, entertainment, cultural affairs and hospitality services globally.
