ADYEN launches agentic commerce API suite for AI platforms

Adyen (AMS: ADYEN) announced Adyen Agentic, a suite of modular APIs designed to allow enterprise merchants to connect with conversational AI commerce platforms through a single integration, according to a company press release.

The product comprises three components: Agentic Feed, which distributes real-time product catalog and inventory data; Agentic Cart, which connects existing checkout and order management systems to conversational commerce platforms; and Agentic Payments, which handles authentication, token portability, and fraud management across agent-led transactions.

Adyen said the product is intended to address the integration complexity merchants face as AI platforms introduce new commerce channels, each requiring different data formats and checkout protocols. Merchants integrate once, and Adyen translates that integration across platforms and protocols.

Early ecosystem participants include American Express, Mastercard, Salesforce, and Visa as strategic partners, and enterprise retailers ESW, Scheels, Sézane, and SharkNinja. Adyen Agentic is currently in limited availability for enterprise merchants in the U.S., with global expansion planned.

The product is compatible with Meta's AI checkout and is built alongside Adyen's support for the Universal Commerce Protocol, the Agent Payments Protocol, and OpenAI's Agentic Commerce Protocol.

"Every new agentic surface asks merchants to rebuild from scratch," said Karan Katyal, Global Head of Agentic Commerce at Adyen. "We believe the future of agentic commerce should be open, so we intentionally designed Adyen Agentic to help retailers integrate once and participate across evolving platforms, protocols, and experiences."

Merchants retain control over customer relationships, transaction routing, and business logic. The infrastructure draws on Adyen's existing tokenization, authentication, and fraud capabilities.
