Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster reiterated an Overweight rating and $80 price target on Yelp (NYSE: YELP) Thursday noting growth of Yelp reviews are outpacing Google Plus (NASDAQ: GOOG).
Munster commented, "We are updating our review count analysis that looks at historical growth of 500 places in 20 major cities in the U.S. on a weekly basis to measure the consumer review trends between Yelp and Google Plus. Our data shows that despite being a more mature platform, Yelp outpaces Google Plus in terms of review growth. Yelp reviews grew 130% over the past year compared to Google reviews growing at 75%. We believe review growth is a key metric to the long term Yelp story. We remain positive on shares of YELP."
