Unemployment Claims Could Reach 9 Million This Week - Swonk

On CNBC, Grant Thornton’s Diane Swonk said last week's unemployment claims number could reach 9 million, which would be much higher than the 3.5 million initial jobless claims expected (4.9 million continuing claims). Swonk expects 1 million in California alone. She said some of the claims were delayed because furloughed workers weren't counted. This has changed and more companies have begun laying off workers due to the coronavirus shutdown.

The initial jobless claims data is expected on Thursday.
