UBS analyst Timur Braziler initiates coverage on First Citizens BancShares (NASDAQ: FCNCA) with a Neutral rating and a price target of $2,250.00.
The analyst comments "Near-term trends are insulated by higher rates (hikes) and the $4.6B of liquidity gained from the BMO branch deal (closed 9/4). Beyond 2H26, trends get tougher, as mgt. replaces the remaining ~$20B of a 3.5% Promissory note with market-rate funding. Additionally, all of the recent loan growth has come from the SVB franchise (lower yielding), while deposit growth has been driven by CIT's Direct Bank, which is currently offering a 4.10% high-yield savings account. Our FY27/28E EPS of $199.74/$210.35, are in-line/-3% vs. consensus, with our $2250 PT representing 10.7x FY28E EPS, which we think fairly represents the funding dynamics and forward profitability of the franchise."
