Stifel Starts Akcea Therapeutics, Inc. (AKCA) at Buy

Stifel initiates coverage on Akcea Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKCA) with a Buy rating and a price target of $19.00.

Analyst Stephen Willey says that while there may be more stringent patient monitoring requirements expected to accompany Volanesorsen commercialization, he believes the significant unmet medical needs of FCF/FPL justify any trade-off on the logistics and convenience front. The analyst also expects that Novartis (NYSE: NVS) collaboration provides the resources and bandwidth necessary to develop and commercial the pipeline assets towards much broader patient populations.
