Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is expected to release its lower priced "iPhone Mini" later this year. The phone will likely come in 5 colors and be released before or at the same time as the iPhone 5s. Interestingly, the latest speculation suggests Apple could be working on a second low cost iPhone.
On a recent tech tour, analyst Brian White of Topeka came across a device he called a "lower-priced iPhone 5." This device is unrelated to the highly anticipated "iPhone Mini".
"Strangely enough and unrelated to the "iPhone mini" with plastic casing, we had a discussion with a tech supply chain company around a "lower-priced iPhone 5" that would be similar in look to the current iPhone 5 but with edges that are more rounded, a slightly thicker body, more color options and at a lower price. Our research has not uncovered anything remotely similar to "a lower priced iPhone 5" before, and we find it difficult to reconcile such a device given that the iPhone 5S and "iPhone mini" are just around the corner. As such, we are treating this data point with a skeptical eye but we will continue to research the topic," said White.
