Piper Says 5G Strength Appears to Continue
Analyst Harsh Kumar comments "Last week the SOX was up ~3%, while both the NASDAQ and S&P500 were also up ~3%. On the 5G front, activity continues to be strong. China is reportedly building 15K 5G base stations per week, while Marvell noted 5G infrastructure strength during its earnings announcement. During the second quarter, Samsung regained the #1 position in global smartphone market share, slightly edging out Huawei. In addition, TSMC expects to build a 2nm facility, as a major customer is driving R&D. On a different note, it appears legal tensions between Apple and Epic Games is heating up, as Apple has terminated the company's account on the App Store. Reports also note MacBooks are trending up 20% year-over-year recently, while Apple is expected to ship 82M AirPods in calendar 2020. Finally, Apple plans to open some of its closed stores in the U.S."
