Stephens analyst Jack Atkins lowered the price target on Old Dominion Freight Line (NASDAQ: ODFL) to $174.00 (from $186.00) while maintaining a Overweight rating.
The analyst commented: "ODFL reported a slight 2Q25 miss, as lighter tonnage was not fully able to be offset with continued cost controls. We have reduced our forward tonnage estimates, and although we believe yields remain solid we are tweaking our margin lower based on the 3Q outlook and volume deleverage in the network. While tonnage declines have been steeper than expected, ODFL continues to realize some of the highest yield growth in the industry and the excess capacity should support strong incremental margins when volumes improve. As the cycle turns we do expect ODFL will gain share as others have service issues, and on the call management discussed already hearing more of those anecdotes in the market. We believe shares remain attractive on longer time horizon, and we would use the move lower to build positions; maintain OW rating; PT to $174 (was $186)."
