Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is trying to make itself relevant in the smartphone space. Now one analyst thinks Nokia should sell the smartphone unit to partner Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT).
Danske Bank upgraded Nokia from Hold to Buy today and said it would "make sense" for Microsoft to buy the unit. This would help maintains momentum in Windows Phone sales and would allow Nokia to focus on low-end phone models.
A deal would have to happen before Windows Phone momentum slows, they said. This could be as early as the 1st-half of 2012.
