Today analysts at Needham & Company maintained a Hold rating on American Superconductor (NASDAQ: AMSC).
Analyst James Ricchiuti said "AMSC last week posted modestly better than expected FQ1 results but guided below Street expectations for the Sept. quarter. Based on its backlog and pipeline of potential new orders, mgmt expects growth in the F2H to be above F1H, driven by growth in both the wind and grid sides of the business."
"However," added Ricchiuti, "even assuming 20%-plus growth 2H/1H and improving gross margins, losses are likely to remain sizable. In short, it is difficult to see a path back to profitability over the next 12-15 months."
