FBR Capital analyst, Vernon Bernardino, reiterated his buy rating and $12 PT on Actinium Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ATNM) ahead of a conference that could act as a platform for the company to release data that could confirm a promising remission rate for AML. No change to numbers, Outperform rating or $12 PT.

Actimab-A (ATNM's alpha particle candidate immunotherapy) is set to emerge at the upcoming annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology, starting on December 5 in Orlando, Florida. Although results are from a small study (n=14), Phase I results (to be presented between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. EST, Monday, December 7) should confirm the promising remission rate observed with one cycle of Actimab-A therapy (29%) and to lead to recognition of its potential as a therapeutic option for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), emerging in 2016.

Actimab-A has shown activity against relapsed/ refractory AML and safety at doses up to 3 µCi/kg, which sets it apart, as prior results with other alpha particle–emitting isotopes exhibited doselimiting toxicities (DLTs) at similar emission levels. Recent results with ActimabA showed eight of 11 patients (73%) evaluated after one cycle had bone marrow (BM) blast reductions (mean reduction, 72%; range, 34%–100%), and seven patients (64%) with blast reductions of at least 50%. updated results presented at ASH will show blast reductions of at least 50% with cumulative cycles of Actimab-A, and will point to a potential survival benefit.

The most promising candidates, so far, have demonstrated either lack of efficacy or DLTs. With Actimab-A being the most advanced, we anticipate its continued progress could garner significant partnering interest in 2016, at deal terms that, we estimate, could be worth multiples of $100M, or result in ATNM’s acquisition, similarly to the $2.4B acquisition of the Norway-based biotechnology company Algeta ASA in 2013.
