Shares of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (NASDAQ: GMCR) are mildly lower Thursday after a read-through from Nielsen data on K-cups trends.
K-Cup sales grew by 38.6% year-over-year in the 4-week period ending December 22nd, versus 54.2% growth in November, SunTrust Robinson analyst William Chappell noted. The deceleration in sales growth was expected, however, given tough comps as a result of the Starbucks rollout last year.
On pricing, higher priced K-Cups lead to a 0.6% year-over-year increase in prices which comes despite unlicensed K-Cups making their ways into stores.
The firm reiterated a Buy rating and $45 price target on GMCR.
Shares of Green Mountain last traded at $43.18, down 0.7%.
