Jefferies raised its price target on Altera (NASDAQ: ALTR) from $44 to $46 and maintained their Buy rating following Q4 results and a Q1 miss. Estimates were cut lower.
The firm comments: "ALTR beat consensus 4Q11 revs by 3% and EPS by $0.04, but projected 1Q12 revs to decline by 5-9% QoQ and fall short of consensus by 6%. The 1Q miss is a disappointment and the higher multiple means higher risk, but we retain our Buy rating for 3 reasons: 1) we believe that inventories have materially burned off, 2) secular trends in PLDs, and 3) superior business model."
