Jefferies maintains a 'Hold' on Southern Co. (NYSE: SO), PT increased from $39.50 to $40.

Jefferies analyst says, "Southern Company reported first-quarter earnings of $0.50, in-line with our estimate and consensus and above guidance of $0.47...We are maintaining our 2011 EPS estimate of $2.52. Our estimate is within the company’s reaffirmed guidance of $2.48-$2.56. We are maintaining our 2012 and 2013 EPS estimates of $2.70 and $2.81, respectively."

"We believe that Southern Company, an integrated electric company with an above-average dividend yield, should trade at a premium to a peer group of largely regulated electric companies...Assume construction of new Vogtle
nuclear units remain on schedule and within budget."
