Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Steven Halper was the latest to defend Health Insurance Innovations (NASDAQ: HIIQ) amid concerns about the Trump administration's decision to reduce funding for ACA advertising and navigator program. The analyst reiterated an Overweight rating and price target of $38.00.
"If this is the case, we expect no impact on the demand for non-compliant policies (short-term medical and health benefit plans), which are sold by HIIQ," Halper said.
There are also concerns about legislative efforts to stabilize ACA markets, he notes. "We maintain our view that low-cost, non-compliant plans can play an important role in reducing premium costs to individuals for an appropriate level of coverage, thus benefitting HIIQ."
The analyst is telling the weakness is overdone.
