Goldman Sachs Starts MeiraGTx Holdings plc (MGTX) at Neutral

Goldman Sachs analyst Andrea Newkirk initiates coverage on MeiraGTx Holdings plc (NASDAQ: MGTX) with a Neutral rating and a price target of $16.00.

The analyst comments: "MGTX is a clinical-stage company leveraging low-dose gene therapies for inherited retinal diseases (lead asset bota-vec for X-linked retinitis pigmentosa (XLRP) and LLY-partnered AAV-AIPL1 for LCA4 congenital blindness, where regulatory packages are being compiled), radiation-induced xerostomia (Ph2 AAV2-hAQP1 AQUAx2 data in 2Q27), and Parkinson's disease (Ph3 AAV-GAD trial to be initiated shortly via joint venture Reogen). For the two wholly-owned programs, bota-vec and AAV2-hAQP1, on the former, we see a convincing value proposition that is currently clouded by regulatory uncertainty (though approval following missed Ph3 primary endpoints has precedence), while on the latter, we see success as largely priced in on the back of recent positive 3-year Ph1 AQUAx data, the sum of which is likely to keep shares rangebound in the near-term. In parallel, we are monitoring progress of the Riboswitch gene regulation platform (designed to enable precise, dose-responsive control of protein expression via small molecule inducers which could be an intriguing approach across multiple target and therapeutic modalities) where the first asset Ribo-Leptin for metabolic disorders is expected to enter the clinic later this year with initial data to provide initial proof-of-concept of the approach."
