In this week's "Inside Wall Street" column, Gene Marcial highlighted Itron (Nasdaq: ITRI). If you are a regular reader of StreetInsider, then you probably knew about the company, before it made its way to the rest of the public through BusinessWeek.

Here are a couple of the things we have noted about Itron in the past:
Mentioned by Canaccord Adams as 1 of 15 stocks to weather the bad tape. Along with Canaccord recommending Itron, Deutsche Bank believes greentech companies like ITRI are becoming increasingly attractive to conservative investors in this environment. Itron won a $480 million contract with Southern California Edison which should continue to support growth.

Below are a few of the items Gene Marcial pointed out in his column:

-Itron sells its wares to some 3,000 utility customers
-It has a 60% share in the US market
-Of the approximately 2.5 billion meters, 85% of them are old, suggesting a replacement cycle is on its way
-Itron's products reduces the costs and boosts efficiency for utility companies
