Commenting to StreetInsider.com, Caris & Company analyst Curtis Shauger said a deal between Sybase (NYSE: SY) and SAP (NYSE: SAP) "makes sense".

Curtis Shauger noted that the space is consolidating, the two are already in a wireless partnership, and SAP is struggling to grow in its core business.

Shauger rates the stock a Buy with a $56 price target, but his target is based on the company remaining as a stand-alone company.

Shares of Sybase have rocketed 40% to $58 per share on rumors of a $6 billion bid from SAP.
