Peltz' Trian Fund Uses Weakness To Accumulate More Tiffany (TIF) Shares

In an amended 13D filing on Tiffany & Co (NYSE: TIF), Nelson Peltz' Trian Fund disclosed a 7.9% stake (10,718,600 shares) in the company. Peltz showed a stake of 7,500,000 in the original 13D in 02/26/07.
In the filing, Trian showed purchases, through various entities, of about 3.7 million shares from 12/13/07-1/15/08, with all but one of 11 trade transactions coming on 1/11/08 and 1/15/08.
Tiffany sank 11% on 1/11 following downbeat guidance from the luxury retailer.
Peltz's cost basis for the position is about $39 per share. Tiffany closed at $35.66 yesterday.
