Activist investor Carl Icahn has built a medium-sized stake in VMware (NYSE: VMW), CNBC reported. The stake is below the 5% threshold that would require a 13D filing, the report said.
Dell is considering a reverse merger with VMware, so Icahn could attempt to influence the plans. Notably, Mr. Icahn attempted to thwart Michael Dell's take-private deal in 2013.
