The market is looking better and better for the likes of Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and Sony (NYSE: SNE) in terms of next-generation gaming consoles.

According to reports out Wednesday, Nintendo might have to start scrambling for content to bring onto its new Wii U console. BGR pointed out that Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: EA) won't be porting over popular titles like “Star Wars,” "Battlefield 4,” the new "Madden NFL" and the next version of “Mass Effect."

Basically, an EA exec affirmed that the company isn't building its next gaming engine for the Wii U.

With Microsoft and Sony expected t launch new consoles later on this year, one less competitor would be a boon for both.
