Yum! Brands (NYSE: YUM) is lower in early trading Monday following reports that China is launching a probe into one of its suppliers.
Reuters noted that Shanghai food safety inspectors are looking into a mutton supplier for mislabeled dates on certain lots of the meat. A report had some of the meat already being sold in several Little Sheep locations.
On the other hand, sources told the Guanzhou Daily that Yum! did not procure mutton from the supplier in question.
Results of the meat testing will be available in about a week.
