Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) is up over 2 percent Thursday on volume heading into the e-Commerce giant's first-quarter 2013 earnings report, which is expected out after markets close.
The Street is currently looking for EPS of 9 cents on revs of $16.17 billion, from EPS of 28 cents and revs of $13.2 billion reported in the same period last year.
Net money flow is positive by about $22 million today and ratio of 1.1 times uptick-to-downtick flow. The 14-day money flow index is at 66 or so, nearer to being overbought.
Through the middle of April, short interest on the name fell 8.4 percent to 6.53 million shares, or 1.8 percent of float. No extremely high, but definitely notable.
Amazon has been mixed on beats and misses through the last 10 reports, but shares are up over 66 percent since the company's third-quarter 2010 report. With Amazon being criticized for consolidating margins on discount sales, investors might note the company's storage business as well as Prime Instant Video and overall Prime membership as key drivers for the company, not how many electronics it sells.
