Names like Fuel Systems (Nasdaq: FSYS), Clean Energy (Nasdaq: CLNE), Westport Innovations (Nasdaq: WPRT), and others are positive on the session following data and recent executive comments.
General Motors (NYSE: GM) CEO Dan Akerson issued some comments into a CERAWeek conference on Wednesday. Akerson questioned why at least one in four pumps at a typical fuel station dedicated to natural gas yet. He also said that the U.S. needs a presidential commission charged with "developing an integrated energy plan."
Akerson noted that GM has the technology for a vehicle to run on traditional gasoline or compressed natural gas, all the car needs is two separate fuel tanks to work.

Texas oilman T. Boone Pickens has also been an advocate on nat gas as prices plummeted through 2012. Pickens has made regular appearances on TV news outlet touting his "Pickens Plan," which also calls for infrastructure improvements.
Nat gas prices fell to near-record lows over the last few years on economic conditions. Recently, the commodity has seen a modest rebound in prices, though the argument still stands that it makes an attractive alternative to gasoline and fuel oil.
Data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) Thursday had nat gas stockpiles dropping 146 billion cubic feet (bcf) last week, versus the consensus estimate calling for a 130 to 134 bcf drop. April nat gas contracts are up $0.116 to $3.586 per mmBtu.
Clean Energy is looking to expand nat gas pumps, while Fuel Systems and Westport are working on engine conversion technologies.
